The measures approximately 2 1/2 inches long, 1/16 inch thick and 3/4 inch deep. Full tang with pinned curly maple scales. A nice minature size.Made for Wild Boar Knives by River Trader Knives, this knife is a historical re-creation of the Early American Trade Knife. The original early knives were made and used between 1640 and 1890. The original knives of various sizes were traded to Indians, settlers and trappers. The heat treating is done as it was done for hundreds of years in a coal forge. The steel used is 1095 hi-carbon steel. The small notch in the blade is called the Mediterranean notch and was used to strip the fat off of sinew for thread. Blade Steel: 1095 Coal Forged Steel
