About the Maker

Griffin, Anthony

I began making knives in 1995 at the age of 13. At age 14, I became the youngest member of the North Carolina Custom Knifemakers Guild. I continued making knives until I started college in 2000. In 2005 I received my degree in Mechanical Engineering from NC State University. After buying my first house and getting married to my lovely wife Holly, I began making knives again in early 2009. Currently my wife Holly, daughter Heather, sons Jonathan and Mathew and I live in Willowspring, NC. Besides knifemaking, I am also an avid outdoorsman which gives me plenty of opportunities to test out my knives. I use only the highest quality materials for my knives. All of my blades are ground by hand and no two are alike. Steel choices include 1095, A2, O1, D2, 440C, ATS-34, 154CM, CPM 3V, CPM S30V, CPM S35V, CPM D2, and CPM 154CM. Blades can also be ground from files and rasps. All of my blades are professionally heat treated to a Rockwell Hardness of 58-61, depending on the steel type. Most of my knives come with either a non reflective bead blasted finish or a mirror polish. Satin finishes are also available. High carbon steel blades can also come with an antique patina or a forced mustard patina on the blade with different patterns available. Handle choices include many exotic woods, stabilized and dyed woods, dymondwood, various colors and textures of micarta and G-10, textured and smooth titanium, both smooth and jigged bone, stag, buffalo horn, sheep horn, wrapped paracord, etc. Every knife comes with either a hand sewn leather sheath or custom fit kydex sheath. The sheaths can be made for just about any carry option imaginable.
