ABOUT THE MAKER
Curtiss Knives
Just thought I might tell you a little about Curtiss Custom Knives LLC. We are a veteran owned small business. When I decided to create this business, I had one standard in mind. To make the best knives and give the best customer service possible. I would like to tell you a little about customer service. My first job when I was a young boy was at a full service gas station if anyone remembers what that is. I was taught to not only pump gas but also check tire pressure, oil level , wash the windshield, and anything else that you saw needed to be done. I tried to use the same business model for Curtiss Custom Knives LLC. Let’s face it, these knives are not cheap. I know if I spent that kind of money I would expect to have an unconditional lifetime warranty too. If you don’t take care of your customers, you won’t have any eventually. It really has to do with taking pride in what I make. I never claimed to make the best knife, but I will give you the best customer service I possibly can. The knives will always get better. With that being said, here is the warranty on our knives. Unconditional Lifetime Warranty within reason. When I say within reason, it just means to use common sense. Your knife is not a screwdriver, pry bar or an axe. Don’t use it in that manner. Use it for what a knife is designed for, cutting. Now I don’t care if you are the original owner or the 10th owner. I warranty the knife, not the person. If you need a repair or just want your knife sharpened, please email me. Its that simple. Next is the processes we use to make our knives. I am the only one in our shop. No magic mini shop monkeys or anything. Just me. I start with a thought and turn it into a CAD drawing. If I like what I see, I create run files and cut my parts on our waterjet machine. Yes we have a waterjet in our shop. After the materials are cut into the basic shapes, I use our CNC machining center for the secondary processes such as milling, drilling, pockets and tapping. I do my blade grinds by hand on 2″x 72″ belt grinders that I designed and built. Other shop equipment includes heat treat oven, blast cabinet, vibe machine and misc. other machines. Anything else is done by hand by me. I do all of my sharpening on a belt machine I built. All knives receive a 20 degree polished edge. I do currently outsource for some hardware but we hope to make that ourselves soon. So I do not put my knives in a “mid-tech” or “production” classification. I call my knives “CUSTOM”. We own and operate all machinery in house. I'm very pleased to work with Arizona Custom Knives and look forward to a long relationship.
George, Les
I began making knives in 1992 and have been fortunate enough to have worked with and learned from some of the best knife makers in the world. The maker most responsible for my progression is Stan Fujisaka of Kaneohe, Hawaii. I had been making knives for several years before I met Stan, but he opened the door to a new level of knife making for me and shared his considerable knowledge with me freely. I will continue to refine my craft and to build on all that I have learned so far. I enlisted in the United States Marine Corps in 1997 and spent over 10 years in its service. I served as a heavy equipment mechanic, an Embassy Guard in foreign lands and a Senior Explosive Ordnance Disposal Technician in many of the world's garden spots. I have trained in Explosive Dynamic Entry, Advanced Access and Disablement, Improvised Explosives and Devices, Weapons of Mass Destruction, Close Quarters Combat and many other technical and tactical skills. I have deployed to, lived and worked in Laos, Thailand, North and South Korea, Peru, Mozambique, South Africa, Iraq and many other places in between. Since my departure from the Marines I have worked as an Unexploded Ordnance Technician clearing unexploded munitions, from projectiles to land mines from old training areas. As an EOD Team leader in Iraq, I oversaw over 300 EOD responses and over 100 Improvised Explosive Devices where rendered safe. All of these experiences have given me a unique view of how I think knives and tools should be designed, made and used. I look forward to many new things during this new phase in my career. There is a lot of work left for me to do to get ready for more work to come.
Graham Knives, Jon
Visit this maker's website: Graham Knives. "We are long-time knife enthusiasts based in Cleveland, Tennessee, makers of Everyday Carry (EDC) fixed blade pocket knives. We also make the larger camp, hunting and tactical knives for the outdoor enthusiasts. All steps involved in crafting custom handmade knives - from the design, profiling, grinding, polishing, to the making of its custom sheath - are done in our shop, except for heat treating (which includes cryo quench). Each of our custom handmade knives are heat treated and cryo quenched by Paul Bos, who is considered to be the best in the business. Through our testing, we have come to rely on the use of 440c, 154CM, S30V, but will use any steel requested."

Ochs, Eric
When I was six years old I received my first knife from my Dad and learned how to use it. A year or so later I got a small Swiss Army knife and have rarely gone a day without carrying and using a knife since. Having grown up primarily in the country with family that was active in the great outdoors there was frequent opportunities to find uses for a knife. Over the years I have collected both fixed and folding knives and put them to use in favorite activities like hunting, hiking, fishing, kayaking or working outdoors. In early 2007 I started designing and making knives and am a fulltime knifemaker. Much of my work now is with folding knives but since the beginning I have used the stock removal method. I cut and grind out all of my own blades, handles and frames by hand using only the highest grades of knife/tool steel and titanium for folding knives. Primarily I use CPM S30V, Elmax, CPM S35VN, CPM 154, and CPM3V. I also work with Damascus steels. I send all of my knife blades to Paul Bos to be heat treated and get a cryogenic double or triple temper to insure the very best edge holding and blade toughness. I believe this is the best, most consistent way, to heat treat the stainless and tool steels I work with in order to maximize the potential of the steel. In 2010 I made my first folding tactical knife and have been enthusiastically developing more models since. I find great inspiration from the work of Bob Lum with his exacting fit and finish and clean simple ergonomic designs. There has also been influence in my work from the books and work of Bob Loveless and Bob Terzuola. Also, it has been a great privilege to work with and call Wayne Goddard a personal friend and mentor. In my designs I strive for simplicity and balance that incorporates functional use and quality materials and craftsmanship. I believe the best knives can be achieved by pulling together the elements of form and function while creating works for enduring use.

Rogers, Richard
I have been making knives since 1996. I've made a wide variety of styles. My latest designs and direction have been into gentlemen’s tacticals. Form follows function is alive and well in my shop! I strive for excellence in my work. Each product is a reflection of my work ethic, my dedication to detail, and my insistence on quality. I am known for my fine fit and finish; and I don't take that lightly. "Good enough" is not acceptable in my shop. My goal, with every knife I make, is to make it the best example of what that knife should be. This also carries over to the EDC gear. I have won over 50 awards during my career, including two “Best of Show” at the Blade Show in Atlanta. I live on a working cattle ranch in New Mexico. Though I would never be considered a typical cowboy! My wife, Sally, and I have one son.

Merriken Knives
My passion is in custom folding knives. I stumbled upon custom knife maker videos on you tube and instantly fell in love with the idea of making my own frame lock folder. In 2015 I bought a few pieces of machinery to make it happen. I have not stopped since. I like to keep it as original as possible and evolving with the times and materials. My workshop is always growing and evolving for the better. Most of my designs start out in CAD. I spend a great deal of time doing one off creations from scratch. I have also utilize water jet to profile many of my designs. I do not consider water jet profiling to take away from the true custom experience. I still spend hundreds of hours on CAD perfecting my designs. I like to use quality high end stainless steel and Damascus. I use many handle materials; Titanium, Zirconium, Timascus, Carbon Fiber, Mokume, Wood, and the list goes on and on! I am a full time Firefighter for Seminole Fire Rescue in the Tampa Bay Area. Knife making is my part time obsession. My other hobbies include Diving, Fishing, and Off-Roading when I am not making knives. I have a beautiful family with two children.
