Layaway Information

Layaway Policies

We offer a layaway plan on select products so you may pay for your order over a period of 60 days. Products that are eligible for layaway will show "Layaway Available: Yes" on the product page.

Here's how it works:

The total amount of the order excluding shipping, tax, or fees is divided into three (3) equal payments. The first payment is due with the order, the second payment is due 30 days later, and the final payment is due 60 days after the order.

There is a $15 non-refundable fee for layaway orders. This fee is added to the first payment along with the shipping and any tax. The first payment is made when the order is placed.

Example: Your order total is $300 plus $12.75 shipping and handling. If you select the layaway option, your payments would be:

  • $127.75 (1/3 of purchase = $100 + $15 layaway fee + $12.75 shipping)
  • $100.00 (1/3 of purchase = $100)
  • $100.00 (1/3 of purchase = $100)

If your initial payment is made by credit card, we will automatically process the 2nd and 3rd payments at the appropriate time using the same credit card information. You will be reminded via email that a payment will be charged. If you need to change this for any reason, please contact us.

For payments made other than credit card, payment must be received within seven (7) days of the due date or the order is subject to cancellation. You will receive a reminder via email that a payment is due.

If you wish to complete payment early and have your order shipped, you may contact us at any time during the 60 day period. There is no penalty for prepayment.

Additional products may be added to a layaway order without penalty. A new payment schedule will be calculated based on when additional products are added.

If you wish to complete payment early and have your order shipped, you may contact us at any time during the 60 day period. There is no penalty for early payment.

Cancellations of layaway orders are subject to a restocking/processing fee of 10% of the order total (not including tax and shipping costs). This restocking fee is in addition to the $15 non-refundable layaway fee.

Overview

Commemorative Bowie Knife, Republic of Texas series, showing engraved commemorative motifs of a battle and says "Who will cross this line and stand with me". Clip point blade with false top edge, .259" blade stock and 1.939" blade depth, hidden tang construction. The handle has a brass guard and butt with a wood handle. The knife is excellent condition with only a few light scratches and some patina on the brass. Comes with a wooden display box. The artwork was designed by Ron Adair who designed art for other Aurum etched knives. The knives were offered for sale directly through Aurum Etchings with a purchase price of $350 with an option to purchase the other matching numbered knives at a price of $250 each. If only one knife of a set was ordered, the other matching number knives in that set were not made. It is estimated that less than 50 complete sets were made with an additional thirty of the Alamo bowies and the Texas Rangers bowies being made. No additional Sons of the Republic bowies or Goliad/San Jacinto bowies were made beyond the ones made for the complete sets. It should be noted that numbers were randomly assigned through 250 based on customer number preference. The knives were issued: the Alamo bowie, issued Nov. 1976, the Texas Rangers bowie, issued Mar. 1977, the Goliad/San Jacinto bowie, issued August 1976 and the Sons of the Republic bowie, issued Sept. 1977. So, the Sons of the Republic knife is 1 of approx. 50 and The Alamo bowie is 1 of approx 80. No sheaths were made, each came in a wood presentation box

About the Maker

Track Knives

Track knives was founded 1970 by Ray Schmidt and his longtime friend Don Pfirmmer. Ray had been active making and perfecting hunting knives since he was 12 years old. Both Ray and Don were active hunting, fishing and hiking together while growing up in Whitefish however after college Don relocated to Alaska for 7 years. After visiting Ray and returning to Alaska with one of Rays knives he skinned and butchered walrus, caribou, whales, moose and bear than passing the knife around to other hunters to use and see how well it held up. Ray went to Alaska for several months and ended up shooting a Boone and Crockett brown bear and shortly after they both returned to Whitefish to start Track Knives. Track Knives are produced from a bar of high-carbon, low chromium, nickel vanadium alloy with a 58-60 Rockwell C rating. Blades are shaped using a flat grind, a hand fitted brass bolster is added and a variety of handle materials are offered and comes with a saddle leather sheath.
