Langley, Mick

Mick Langley was born and brought up in the Sheffield area of England so it is no wonder that when he emigrated to Canada the love of fine cutlery was in his blood. Settling first in Saskatchewan and then Vancouver Island Mick was soon hand forging his blades in high carbon tool steel which led him to seek the tutledge of the late master Don Hastings. It was not long and Mick had the honor of becoming the first Canadian Master Bladesmith in the American Bladesmith society. His work soon came to the attention of collectors internationally as he attended shows in Toronto, New York, New Jersey, Knoxville, California and Oregon where, he has won the award for best forged blade. Mick's superb damascus and carbon steel can be found in a wide variety of styles including folders, Bowies, quillon daggers, boot knives and hunters usually accompanied by his own handcrafted leather sheaths. Natural materials are Mick's favorites including fossil ivory, pearl, oosic and exotic hardwoods.
