Layaway Information

Layaway Policies

We offer a layaway plan on select products so you may pay for your order over a period of 60 days. Products that are eligible for layaway will show "Layaway Available: Yes" on the product page.

Here's how it works:

The total amount of the order excluding shipping, tax, or fees is divided into three (3) equal payments. The first payment is due with the order, the second payment is due 30 days later, and the final payment is due 60 days after the order.

There is a $15 non-refundable fee for layaway orders. This fee is added to the first payment along with the shipping and any tax. The first payment is made when the order is placed.

Example: Your order total is $300 plus $12.75 shipping and handling. If you select the layaway option, your payments would be:

  • $127.75 (1/3 of purchase = $100 + $15 layaway fee + $12.75 shipping)
  • $100.00 (1/3 of purchase = $100)
  • $100.00 (1/3 of purchase = $100)

If your initial payment is made by credit card, we will automatically process the 2nd and 3rd payments at the appropriate time using the same credit card information. You will be reminded via email that a payment will be charged. If you need to change this for any reason, please contact us.

For payments made other than credit card, payment must be received within seven (7) days of the due date or the order is subject to cancellation. You will receive a reminder via email that a payment is due.

If you wish to complete payment early and have your order shipped, you may contact us at any time during the 60 day period. There is no penalty for prepayment.

Additional products may be added to a layaway order without penalty. A new payment schedule will be calculated based on when additional products are added.

If you wish to complete payment early and have your order shipped, you may contact us at any time during the 60 day period. There is no penalty for early payment.

Cancellations of layaway orders are subject to a restocking/processing fee of 10% of the order total (not including tax and shipping costs). This restocking fee is in addition to the $15 non-refundable layaway fee.

The Mojave 6 is a combat ready blade with excellent balance and speed. Outfitted with a powerful hollow grind and piercing point, this is an effective tool for field use in any task. Dawson utilizes American-made, CPM 3V powder metallurgy steel which offers exceptional toughness with edge holding up to three times longer than D2 and a clear Cerakote coating for corrosion resistance. This version comes with layered red and black G10 handle scales and a Specter finished blade.

Blade: Made from tough, American CPM 3V tool steel, the harpoon clip point offers a modern take on the classic Bowie blade with a slicing high hollow grind and clip point swedge for aggressive piercing performance. The guard and thumb ramp are jimped for added safety, with a forward choil for enhanced control in various tasks. The blade finish is Specter with a hamon.

Handle: Thick, matte blasted G10 scales are attached with black stainless steel hardware over red liners to the full tang for a rock solid handle. Contoured for comfort during extended use, the scales are matte blasted and milled with deep grooves and traction cuts for exceptional grip and speed in the hand. Strategic jimping on the forward guard, thumb ramp and pommel offer added security, while the exposed pommel end allows for emergency glass breaking, impact and prying with a hole for lanyard attachment. Each knife is 100% hand made and includes a Certificate of Authenticity with spec sheet and serial number.

Sheath: Carries via a custom hybrid leather/Kydex sheath with multiple carry options.

CPM-3V: is a high carbon alloy steel that extremely tough and has enough chromium to have some corrosion resistance. However, care is required to prevent corrosion. The edge can be ground thin, as it is tough enough to support a fine edge. 3V delivers the highest level of toughness while maintaining good edge retention. Dawson's differential heat treatment gives a harder edge for performance and a softer spine for added for toughness and flexibility.

About the Maker

Dawson Knives
Dawson Knives

In 1973, Barry Dawson built his first knife shop inside a dilapidated barn. Fresh off a stint in Vietnam and flat broke, he built most of his machinery himself out of parts scavenged from the local landfill. What he didn't know, he learned, and what didn't exist yet, he invented. More than 40 years later Dawson Knives has grown to encompass three generations of knifemakers, all working together out of our shop in Prescott Valley, Arizona. Each of our knives and swords is 100% designed and handcrafted by us in the USA. We handle every aspect of the knifemaking process in-house, from cutout and grinding to heat-treat, finishes, sheaths and sharpening. We're constantly researching new and better knifemaking methods and the latest advances in materials to ensure we deliver you the best custom knife available.
