Overview
This dagger by The Spiro Co has a wood handle and was produced in SF by the Hardware store so named on the leather sheath, "The Spiro Co". Due to material shortages they were made from parts on hand for the war effort and sold to nervous GI's and Sailors waiting to ship out of San Francisco. Mark of Knife Word discussed this extensively in the late 1990's at the Oregon Show, but the article about war effort knives never got finished or published. It has a double edged blade that looks to have been made from a file, .157" blade stock and 1.417" blade depth, hidden tang construction. The handle has a black aluminum guard and a wood grip. Comes with a brown leather sheath with "The Spiro Co" on the belt loop. Has scratches, has been used and sharpened, fair condition.
