Overview
Master Hattori became 80 years old a few years ago. In Japan, a person’s 80th birthday is commemorated with a special celebration called 傘寿 / Sanjyu. To celebrate his special anniversary year, and also his proud achievements as a Master craftsman, Hattori decided they would produce a Special Limited Edition Collection of knives called the 傘 San Series.
The Hattori 傘 San Series knife collection will feature special, very limited production models, which Master Hattori can no longer produce in large quantities due to the rarity or limited availability of handle materials or blade materials.
Master Ichiro Hattori has selected the S.O.G. Bowie knife to be the 141st knife in the Hattori "SAN" Limited Edition knife collection. Building upon the success of this year's great hit Vietnam War 50th Anniversary commemorative model, Hattori has created a striking new interpretation: the "Black Edition." This special edition showcases Hattori's refined aesthetic with an elegant black paper micarta and leather washer and Brass Spacers combination handle that creates a powerful and exquisitely balanced appearance. Only a limited number (Total 14Pcs) are produced, each knife has a serial number engraved on the bolster and a 傘 SAN logo etched on to the back of blade and inscribed on the Presentation Box.
The Hattori SAN-141 "Black Edition" Limited Bowie Knife is modelled after a famous S.O.G. knife from the Vietnam war era and features a 6.2" hollow ground AUS-8 Molybdenum Vanadium stainless steel Bowie-style blade with a clean satin finish, creating a striking contrast to the Vietnam War model's gunblue finish. The simple yet sophisticated satin-finished blade beautifully highlights the bold character of the handle. The 4.6" "Black Edition" Custom Combination Handle is a modern masterpiece that combines Black Paper Micarta and Leather Washers in perfect harmony, accented by Brass Spacers.
The knife features a solid stainless steel Double Guard / Crossguard and Butt Cap (with lanyard hole) and comes with a brown leather sheath (with a sharpening stone inside the pocket). The Gift box has a special Sanjyu ("80-year anniversary") gold label and message.
