Overview

If you already own a Delica or Endura, you have one of the bestselling knives Spyderco makes. These models are a bit different from the normal C10 Endura4 and C11 Delica 4 Lightweights. They are in a range of handle colors with full-flat ground blades.

Spyderco's Sprint Run Delica 4 is made with Aogami Super Blue steel. Aogami Super Blue is produced exclusively by Hitachi Metals at their plant in the Shimane Prefecture, Japan. They use high quality iron-sand found only in this region to create different grades of steels including white steels and blue steels. The steel itself isn't blue or white in color but the designation refers instead to the color paper the raw steel comes wrapped in when delivered to Hitachi. In Japan its common practice for steels to be named and referred to; based on the color of the packaging the raw steel is delivered in. Super Blue is the highest grade blue steel and contains up to 1.5% carbon for wear resistance and chrome to elevate hardness and improve edge holding and corrosion resistance.

The gray/blue fiberglass reinforced nylon handle features Spyderco's patented Bi-Directional Texturing for slip-free tactile traction. Inside the handle are dual skeletonized stainless steel liners which strengthen the knife without additional weight and double as an anchor for external and internal components to attach through generating more sturdiness and rigidity. The knife locks up solidly with a mid-positioned back-lock with a four-way tip-up, tip-down, left- or right-handed hourglass pocket clip.

Sprint Runs

A Spyderco Sprint Run is defined as a limited edition production of any Spyderco product in a configuration different than what has been previously produced. It can include changes in the handle color, materials, blade steel, coatings, etc.

The quantity of each Sprint Run is generally 600 or 1,200 pieces, which is determined by Spyderco.

About the Maker

Spyderco
Spyderco

Spyderco was founded in 1976 by Sal and Gail Glesser. Initially, the company focused on selling their first product the Tri-Angle Sharpmaker™, primarily at fairs and trade shows around the country. In 1981, the Glessers put down roots in Golden, Colorado and introduced the first Spyderco folding knife. That knife pioneered the concept of a round hole in the blade for one-handed opening, a clip on the handle for carry at the top of the pocket, and the option of a serrated edge for aggressive cutting performance. Those features revolutionized the knife industry and literally defined the form of the modern folding knife. Since then, Spyderco has steadily grown to become one of the leaders in the cutlery industry. In addition to a worldwide distribution network and manufacturing resources in the U.S., Japan, Taiwan, Italy, and China, our innovation has also earned us an impressive portfolio of patents, trademarks, and industry awards. More importantly, it has allowed us to earn the trust and loyalty of countless thousands of dedicated knife users around the world—an audience to whom we are extremely grateful.
