Overview

A1000K: Philip Booth A1000K Michaca Automatic - Black

CRKT

A homegrown, high-caliber scale release automatic for everyday use.

Made in the USA, the Michaca is an automatic folding knife with a scale release lock designed by expert knifemaker Philip Booth. Crafted from ultra-premium materials, the drop point blade is made from best-in-class MagnaCut steel with a bead blast finish, while the natural G10 handle offers excellent grip—and sports Booth's signature stripe. It's an automatic everyday carry with a dose of style. And the name? It's a portmanteau of Booth's hometown of Ithaca, Michigan. This isn't your average every-day auto - the Michaca has character and personality. With a scale-release system that breaks the norm, this exquisite auto opens and closes by sliding the front scale to the side, rocketing the blade out with lightning speed. When you need an auto that will stump even the most experienced knife enthusiasts, look no further than the Michaca.

About the Maker

Columbia River Knife & Tool (CRKT)
Columbia River Knife & Tool (CRKT)

CRKT® (Columbia River Knife and Tool®) was founded in 1994. From day one, we put innovation and integrity first. We made a commitment to build knives and tools that would inspire and endure. We collaborate with the best designers in the world and operate on a simple principle: that the greatest thing we can give our customers is Confidence in Hand®.

Booth, Philip

Philip comes to knifemaking through the fine arts. He is an award winning painter, printmaker and knifemaker. At 10 years old he made his first knife by hammering a 16 penny spike and wrapping the handle with tape. Not much of a knife but at 10 years, a huge accomplishment. Philip sold his first knife in 1991 and is now a full-time maker and voting member of The Knifemakers' Guild. All the knives are made entirely by hand using the metal reduction methods on a one-at-a-time basis. This gives the maker ultimate control and makes each knife unique. Materials for each knife are laid out before each knife is begun, much like a painter laying out his pallet. Knives can be designed around a particular piece of pearl or ivory, and many take advantage of a certain pattern in the Damascus steel. In this way close attention can be paid to pattern, texture and color.
