Overview

Today, the handy Boker Plus Subcom by Chad Los Banos can definitely be called one of the cornerstones of Boker Plus. The enormously high utility value in everyday life and the space-saving design have become legendary. The unbroken popularity of this versatile pocket knife has now prompted us to reissue this ultra-compact classic from our range in a modernised version. The Boker Plus Subcom 2.0 is supplied with a short blade made of D2 with a discreet beadblast finish. It opens with the help of the thumb stud on both sides and is securely locked in place by the two-millimetre-thick steel plate of the framelock. A pronounced hand guard increases grip comfort and prevents slipping into the blade. The textured handle made of black Zytel is supplied with three-dimensional milling and, thanks to this surface structure, the ergonomic design and jimpings in the area of the thumb rest, always lies securely in the hand, even when wet. With lanyard hole and convertible clip (tip-up/tip-down).

Boker Plus Nano Utility Framelock - David Curtiss Design

Boker Plus

The Böker Plus Nano is breaking new grounds with David Curtiss' remarkable design. The Nano clearly shows that size and utility value do not have to be in direct correlation to each other. Thanks to its ingenious ergonomics, the Nano perfectly rests in your hand despite the limited size and it handles a variety of smaller and larger cutting tasks with ease and simultaneously provides an excellent level of grip. The structure of the Zytel scale enhances the slip resistance. The bellied blade is made of 440C stainless steel and ensures comfortable handling due to the large opening. A special bonus is the pocket clip. Includes steel handle with frame lock device and front Zytel scale. Includes removable pocket clip (tip-up/tip-down carry).

The Nano is an extremely high quality little folder that feels much larger in the hand. The texturing on the Zytel scales provide adequate grip and the framelock is solid and quite easy to disengage. You can get a full three finger grip on this knife and the jimping on the spine, though not sharp, is very functional. A nice stout little knife, the stonewashed blade and contrasting brushed finish is a beautiful touch at the price point.

The clips featuring the crosshairs in the design are the symbol of Curtiss custom designs and were made by the designer David Curtiss himself. They were then shipped to the Boker factory to attach to the knives for a truly custom element to the design.

"Curtiss Custom Knives is a veteran owned small business. When I decided to create this business, I had one standard in mind. To make the best knives and give the best customer service possible. I am the only one in our shop. No magic mini shop monkeys or anything. I start with a thought and turn it into a CAD drawing. If I like what I see, I create run files and cut my parts on our waterjet machine. Yes we have a waterjet in our shop. After the materials are cut into the basic shapes, I use our CNC machining center for the secondary processes such as milling, drilling, pockets and tapping. I do my blade grinds by hand on 2″x 72″ belt grinders that I designed and built. Other shop equipment includes heat treat oven, blast cabinet, vibe machine and misc. other machines. Anything else is done by hand by me. I do all of my sharpening on a belt machine I built. All knives receive a 20 degree polished edge. I do currently outsource for some hardware but we hope to make that ourselves soon. So I do not put my knives in a “mid-tech” or “production” classification. I call my knives “CUSTOM”. We own and operate all machinery in house."
