Overview
Product Description
The Spyderco Edgerati C266BKALBKP is what happens when Spyderco co-founder Sal Glesser looks at the tubular spaceframe of a Maserati Birdcage and decides to build a knife from that logic — skeletonized, structurally efficient, and impossible to look at without immediately understanding what it is.
The blade is precision-machined from CPM-S30V — Crucible's particle metallurgy stainless steel engineered for the balance of edge retention, toughness, and wear resistance that makes it one of the most proven production EDC steels available. At 58-61 HRC with a full-flat grind, CPM-S30V holds a working edge through hard use while staying field-sharpenable without specialist equipment. The 3.57" drop point runs a straight spine and features a textured index-finger choil that lets you choke up for enhanced control on precision work. The Black DLC (Diamond-Like Carbon) coating adds a non-reflective, corrosion-resistant finish that is harder than the steel beneath it — total light discipline, measurable surface protection.
- Steel: CPM-S30V particle metallurgy stainless steel — 58-61 HRC; proven balance of edge retention, toughness, and wear resistance; one of the most field-tested production EDC steels available
- Blade: 3.57" (90.68 mm) drop point, full-flat grind, Black DLC coating, plain edge — 3.07" edge length, 0.145" thick; straight spine; textured index-finger choil for forward-grip control
- Finish: Black DLC (Diamond-Like Carbon) coating — non-reflective, harder than the steel beneath it; matching black-coated lock bar, clip, and hardware throughout
- Handle: Skeletonized aircraft-grade aluminum, hardcoat anodized black — machined to expose the Compression Lock; automotive spaceframe-inspired construction; 4.70" closed length
- Lock: Compression Lock® — stainless lock bar nested in machined aluminum pocket; one-handed close without thumb crossing blade path; ambidextrous release
- Carry: 3.30 oz (94 g); broad-base reversible clip, tip-up ambidextrous carry; 8.22" overall open length
- Designer: Sal Glesser, Spyderco co-founder — inspired by the Maserati Birdcage tubular spaceframe
- Origin: Made in Golden, Colorado, USA — Spyderco domestic production
Spyderco collectors who want a production knife built around automotive design principles — the Edgerati's skeletonized aluminum handle is a direct translation of Maserati Birdcage spaceframe engineering. EDC users who want CPM-S30V in an all-black platform with a Compression Lock. Buyers who need ambidextrous tip-up carry on a heavier-carry folding knife. Anyone drawn to Sal Glesser's design work who wants to carry it daily.
