Overview
This early sheffield Bowie is stamped "James Rodgers Royal Cutlery Sheffield", a mark associated with James Rodgers (1758-1829). The blade dates to the early 19th century and predates the later country-of-origin markings commonly found on exported Sheffield Cutlery. The knife was re-mounted at a later date and features a natural stag handle, Gorham sterling silver collar and substantial guard and pommel. The later Gorham fittings represent a subsequent refurbishment of the earlier Sheffield blade. Comes with a nickel silver and black leather scabbard. Has some scratches and patina, otherwise good condition for its age. It has a "B" engraved on the butt.
