Overview

What’s the ATAX?

The ATAX (All-Terrain Axe) carries the legacy of Ron Hood, a bushcraft pioneer who redefined survival gear. This compact multi-tool blends axe-like chopping power with a surprising range of functions, honed by Idaho’s hunters and outdoorsmen. It’s built for those who demand adaptability in the wild.

What Can It Do?

Every feature has a purpose:

  • Chop & Cut: Straight edge for wood; Ulu edge for skinning.
  • Axe Mode: Lash it to a stick with binding slots.
  • Navigate: Sun compass, inclinometer, and clock via the graphic display.
  • Fix & Build: Wrench, hammer, or cut wire.
  • Survive: Fire bow bearing; hollow handle for essentials.
  • Improvise: Arrow launcher for skilled users.

TOPS Knives

In late 1998, TOPS Knives was founded with a mission to create the highest-quality knives around. Our Knives are tools, designed and built using the extensive knowledge and real life experiences of many Operators with backgrounds in Military, Law Enforcement, outdoor professions, and Martial Arts. Specifically, we have worked with designers with backgrounds ranging from Navy Seals to Airborne Rangers, from Martial Arts instructors to survival experts, and from SWAT Team Members to Native American weapons experts. We have a designer from nearly every background that uses hard-core knives. Perhaps the best part, all TOPS fixed blades are manufactured and hand-finished at our facility in the heart of the Rocky Mountains, USA.
