These relationships, formed over the course of 2024, were instrumental in his development. Bob Dozier, a renowned figure in the industry, not only shared invaluable techniques but also assisted Rob in setting up his workshop, guiding him in selecting and purchasing machinery to build a professional grade shop. Bob introduced Rob to Jim Dunlap, another esteemed knifemaker, further enriching Rob's learning, allowing him to hone his skills by crafting a knife in Jim's shop. These mentors taught Rob the importance of precision, from blade grinding to handle finishing, and instilled in him a commitment to quality that defines his work today. Inspired by the iconic Morseth Knives, which Bob Dozier crafted for years, Rob gravitates toward their timeless designs, particularly favoring smaller everyday carry knives that blend functionality with striking aesthetics. His love for the simplicity and elegance of slip joint knives also influences his creations, as seen in his vibrant designs featuring bright colors using materials like Micarta, Stag, Mammoth, and exotic woods.
