Mooney, Mike
A full-time maker since 2000, Mike Mooney has been making knives in Arizona for over fifteen years. He has won many awards at knife shows including Best Bowie (three times at the Southern California Knife Expo), Best Kitchen Cutlery (twice at the Professional Knifemakers Assn. Show), Best Utility/Hunting Knife and Best of Show. Mike learned to flat grind and apply a hand-rubbed satin finish from Tim Hancock, whom he considers one of the finest knifemakers in the world. Mike applies his craftsmanship to a wide range of fixed blades from using knives to collectible knives, for applications from hunting, fishing and kitchen to fighting knives and fancy bowies. Active in the Arizona Knife Collectors Assn., Mike has served as vice-president and president of that organization.
