Overview

From Hoback Knives: The A8 is the down-home, hard-work inspired folder. We built this knife to be at home in your pocket, so it’s always where you need it and you don't have to think about it. It just plain works. We took the A10 folder and scaled it down to be much more pocket-friendly, while still being large and in charge! The A8 still sports a 3.25” long blade like its A10 big brother, but it’s much narrower and slides into the pocket with ease. And anytime you see the word “Slimline,” you know the knife will be lighter, faster, and thinner for even more ease of carrying. It will boast the same strength and precision engineering you have come to expect from Jake Hoback Knives. SPECIFICATIONS: Blade: CPM-20CV, 3.25 Length, .1875 Thickness, bronze anodized finish Frame: Grade 38 Titanium, .1875 Thickness, Stonewash blade finish. Closed Length: 4.66" Open Length: 7.796" Weight: 4.7oz. Other Features: Pivot Thrust Bearings HRD (Hoback Roller Detent) Engineered Internal Lightening Pockets (less weight, same strength) Standard Sizes on all Screws for Ease of Replacement Hardened Steel Bearing Races. Comes in the original wooden box. Has some light scratches, otherwise excellent condition.

About the Maker

Hoback, Jake
Hoback, Jake

Jake Hoback had a variety of jobs and experiences before turning to full-time knife making and becoming a prominent figure in the industry. He studied and worked as a fish and wildlife scientific technician, was a machinist at a turbine engine company, and fabricated rock-crawling 4x4s. Jake started creating knives in 1990 in his back yard, pounding them out on a huge chunk of steel with a framing hammer and fence post nails. By 2003, Jake had sold his very first knife, and in 2009 started making knives full-time from his workshop in Northern Idaho. Jake has learned many techniques and skills from other knife makers throughout the years, but his initial work was completely self-taught. Jake’s knives are known for many innovative features, including the Hoback Roller Detent (HRD), internal lightening pockets, hardened stainless lock inserts, hardened bearing races, and smooth blade movement with no blade play. Jakes specializes in folding and fixed blade knives; but he especially enjoys the thought, design, and engineering that goes into folders.
