This EDC folding knife is built to be strong, durable, and lightweight. Ideal for the ultralight hiker/camper as well as everyday carry use, the Bugout is also an apt tool designed to be included in your Bugout kit. With a razor-sharp CPM-S30V stainless steel, star finished blade, you have the toughness of 58-60HRC as well as a Cerakote finish, which makes the blade extremely corrosion resistant.

The interesting part of the knife is how much engineering went into designing a knife to cut down on weight without sacrificing much in the name of function. We, in conjunction with ColorfulFilth (Paul Munko) have managed to bring a bit of fun and art to this utilitarian blade. Through an inhouse process we were able to not only upgrade the overall durability of this knife, but have made it stouter and still retained the light weight with full titanium scales and a titanium thumb stud. The anodized artwork is part of the scales and not merely painted on, while the black of the night sky is a hardwearing ceramic coating known as Cerakote (used on everything from industrial machines, engine pistons and gun parts). We have also designed a glow-in-the-dark custom backspacer for this collaboration. This is truly the hardest customization Northern Knives has been tasked with to date. We hope you enjoy owning the knife as much as we did developing this completely unique limited run; we feel the work speaks for itself.

NOTE: Since the blade is coated please allow a break in period for the action on the knife. It should be smooth out of the box, but please allow a couple weeks of use to allow the usual pocket slinging slickness of the Bugout to come out and play.

A word from the artist:

2020 has been a wild year for just about everyone, and I'm sure there is at least one person reading this who has thought to themselves "Man, I wish I could just leave this planet." Well space cadet, you're not alone in thinking that way. That's why for our most recent collaboration, I decided to take our focus out of the ocean and launch it straight up into orbit instead.

For the 2020 "Spaced Out Bugout", I wanted to shift the theme and explore a different artistic approach than our last two nautical themed knives. For the bugout, I wanted to go with a more retro comic book inspired depiction of deep space. On the showside, you can see our astronaut flying by and leaving a trail of nostalgic polaroid-esque goodness behind him. On the back side, that same colorful energy is being used as his last line of defense against an alien creature from another dimension.

Nostalgia was the main driving force behind this particular piece, and Northern Knives did an incredible job at bringing that vision to life. I STILL am in awe as I type this! The contrast between the anodization and the black and purple space cerakote looks incredible, and if you look close enough, you'll see that even the small pop art inspired cross hatching has been replicated perfectly.

Thank you to anyone who is reading this right now. Your support of this passion project truly means the world to me. Never in a million years would I have imagined we could sell 100 of the Scuba-Chefs, but you all made that dream into a reality. It makes me so happy to see the joy these projects bring to my fellow knife nuts, and I am sincerely hoping this does the same for all of you once again.

Nothing but love!
