The Benchmade Triage series has you covered with a tool that truly epitomizes what it takes to be prepared for any type of emergency situation. This Benchmade Black Class automatic was designed very purposely--from the design of the blade, to the specific blade material used all the the way down to the functional components and additives. The blade material chosen for this series was Bohler N680--an Austrian steel designed for extremely harsh environments like salt water plus offering the best corrosion resistance while still offering plenty of edge retention and strength. This blade is powered by the Benchmade auto AXIS system which provides quick action and a rock sold lockup and is opened by simultaneously pulling back on the dual tab design. Additional features include an automatic deploying 440C stainless steel seat belt/strap cutter hook that is conveniently housed in the handle scale, an integrated slide safety on the spine as well as a carbide glass breaker to further increase this knife's utilitarian value. This model, the 9170S, features a satin finished partly serrated drop point blade, a black anodized aluminum handle, with a black G-10 inlay, and the pocket clip is designed for tip up carry only but is eligible for left or right hand carry options.
