Shipping Policy

Any customers with separate shipping and billing addresses are subject to follow up contact. If no contact can be made, your order will be cancelled. Please understand that this policy is to protect our customers from fraud and theft.

Shipping costs are calculated automatically when you checkout. Orders to P.O. Boxes or military addresses require shipping via USPS.

Orders placed by 3:00pm EST will be shipped the same day. All orders shipped USPS (including Express) may take an additional business day to process and ship. We strongly recommend shipping UPS if you need guaranteed delivery by a certain date.

For our international customers, you must call or email after ordering to arrange for duties/customs and declarations before we will ship your order. USPS Express International shipments with declarations greater than $200, incur an additional $15.00 fee for postage/insurance.

Overview

Thsi KD30 Hunter was hand made by Ichiro Hattori, it features a Cowry-X blade with false top edge, .194" blade stock and .967" blade depth, hidden tang construction. The handle has a nickel silver guard and butt with cocobolo grip and black/nickel silver spacers. Comes with a brown leather sheath. Has a couple light scratches, otherwise excellent condition.

 

Cowry-X is a powdered alloy developed by Daido Steel Company and considered to be the next generation of cutlery steel. It contains 30% carbon, 20% Chromium and can be hardened to HRc 65-68. Master Hattori uses this Cowry-X as the core edge, constituting 26% of the blade thickness. The beautiful Damascus design is created by applying a forged 30 layers of Nickel and 30 layers of 429j2 stainless to each side, for a total of 121 layers. All KD30 series are forged and hand crafted personally by Master Hattori.

About the Maker

Hattori, Ichiro

Ichiro Hattori is a renowned knife maker in the city of Seki, Japan. Seki is the most internationally well known of several cities famous in Japan for it’s history of cutlery and craftsmen going back some 800 years. He was born into a knife maker family and began his craft at the age of 18 in his father’s factory “Masahiro”, founded in 1932 and still one of Japan’s largest makers of culinary knives as one of the well known “3M”s (Masahiro, Masamoto, Misono). In 1971, Ichiro Hattori started his own business Hattori Hamono K.K. (Hattori Cutlery Co., Ltd.) to pursue his interest in sporting knives.
