Overview
This Lockback by "P Bone" (please let us know if you know this makers full name) features a hand rub satin finished blade with nail nick. The handle has engraved nickel silver bolsters, brass liners, engraved steel backspacer, bone scales, steel backspacer with checkered lock release. The blade is engraved "P Bone". Has scratches, otherwise good condition for its age. The lock is a little difficult to release because the spring is flush to the frame. I had to use a plastic stick.
There was some question about if this was a Ralph P Bone knife, I asked Bone expert Huxley Walters about this knife, this is what he said.
The shape of the knife and blade, the means of attaching (multiple pins) the scales and the engraving, all, appear to be far departures from any “Folding Hunter” and engraving that I’ve observed of Bone’s work. I prefer to think he didn’t make nor engrave the knife. After all, Ralph was a Master at, both, knife making and engraving! That example does not reflect masterful engraving nor knife assembly. Note, also, how Ralph made it a practice of undercutting both scales into the front bolster to avoid the necessity of a pin. On the subject, the scales are not undercut and, therefore, had to be pinned at, both, front and rear. Those are my thoughts
