The dog in the yard is the Kershaw Composite Junkyard Dog II, a key addition to the 2008 composite blade lineup. It features the rugged look of our popular Junkyard Dog knives, designed by Tim Galyean, but paired with our robust composite blade.

We don’t call them “Junkyard Dogs” for nothing. These knives have a big bark and a loud growl. Bold and built for heavy-duty use, they’re just exactly what knife enthusiasts have been howling for. They’re the made-in-the-USA Junkyard Dog II. They feature a fierce look and sturdy stainless-steel construction for heavy-duty performance each and every time.
The JYD II has light weight G-10 scales attached to a sturdy steel frame. The G-10 offers extremely high mechanical strength and top performance in both wet and dry conditions. Its good looks are enhanced by the JYD signature “riveted-steel” pattern, CNC-machined into the gray G-10. Its larger size is sure to appeal to knife users who want even more bite for their buck.
All the JYDs feature Kershaw’s Flipper opening system, a system so unique that it’s covered by one or more pending or issued US patents. The Flipper is a one-handed, ambidextrous index-finger opening system. The Flipper first builds up pressure, then moves the blade up and out of the handle when the index-finger protrusion is pushed on for easy deployment by either left-and right-handed knife users. A frame lock secures the blade in place, while a removable pocket clip keeps the JYD close at hand.
