Overview
In 2008, Some of the Seki knife authorities have formed "Seki Challengers Knife Club" to train and inherit Seki traditional knifemaking technique and knowledge to young knife craftsmen in Seki. There are now 15 club members gathering once a month. They are working at Seki knife factories, and challenging to make their own knives after work and weekends.
Master Takuo Onoue was one of the authorities and founder of Seki Challengers Knife Club. Unfortunately, he has passed away several years ago, but his philosophy was inherited by the club members. His motto was the knife design should be simple and practical as a basic man's tool. He designed some knives for club members to practice knife making. We have already offered some knives made by Nobuaki Yamamoto and Seiji Yanagida.
HIDEAKI YASUDA "ONOUE-TO 尾上刀"
Mr. Yasuda is also one of the authorities. He is now 83 years old and was making high quality shears/scissors in his long carrier.
