Overview
This Trade Style Tomahawk by RW Wilson features a solid silver head that has been engraved by famous Colt engraver Alvin A White. The handle is curly maple with finger grooves, brass studs and caps on the ends of the handle, and a Texas Rangers crest. Comes with a copy of the book "Knives and Knifemakers" by Sid Latham where it is featured on page 144. It has some natural patina and some light scratches, in otherwise excellent condition.
This is a 150th Anniversary Texas Ranger tomahawk, personally built one at a time by RW. The head is 7.75" in length from the face of the blade to the rear of the spike and is 1.125" tall at the pole, the eye being somewhat teardrop-shaped. The curly maple haft is 18" in overall length and shows a nice fiddleback figure. Additionally, there are a dozen small grass tacks affixed as decoration and a small piece of rawhide leather latino with red beads just below the head. Additionally, there are small triangles of brass tacks at the butt of the haft. The tomahawk comes cased in a hardwood Texas Ranger Commemorative case with red baize lining. Wilson's tomahawks were so well-made he actually had to stop making them for a while as orders were so overwhelming. This is a very fine and very limited-edition example.
