Shipping Policy

Any customers with separate shipping and billing addresses are subject to follow up contact. If no contact can be made, your order will be cancelled. Please understand that this policy is to protect our customers from fraud and theft.

Shipping costs are calculated automatically when you checkout. Orders to P.O. Boxes or military addresses require shipping via USPS.

Orders placed by 3:00pm EST will be shipped the same day. All orders shipped USPS (including Express) may take an additional business day to process and ship. We strongly recommend shipping UPS if you need guaranteed delivery by a certain date.

For our international customers, you must call or email after ordering to arrange for duties/customs and declarations before we will ship your order. USPS Express International shipments with declarations greater than $200, incur an additional $15.00 fee for postage/insurance.

Overview

This Katana from Dawson Knives features a satin finished blade, .274" blade stock and 1.509" blade depth, full/hidden tang construction. The handle has a stainless steel tsuba ,black paracord Japanese style wrap over micarta scales. S/N 001. Includes a brown leather sheath.  Excllent Condition. 

 

From Barry Dawson:

"Barry estimates this piece was made between 1983 and 1989 for a collector client in Phoenix, AZ. The blade is crafted from either 440C High Carbon Stainless or ATS-34 Air Quenched Stainless Steel. It was ground by Barry himself using a 16" wheel on a 2" x 72" belt grinder. The handle wrap is a resin-saturated flat nylon cord, and the tsuba is forged from the same steel as the blade."

In 1973, Barry Dawson built his first knife shop inside a dilapidated barn. Fresh off a stint in Vietnam and flat broke, he built most of his machinery himself out of parts scavenged from the local landfill. What he didn't know, he learned, and what didn't exist yet, he invented. More than 40 years later Dawson Knives has grown to encompass three generations of knifemakers, all working together out of our shop in Prescott Valley, Arizona. Each of our knives and swords is 100% designed and handcrafted by us in the USA. We handle every aspect of the knifemaking process in-house, from cutout and grinding to heat-treat, finishes, sheaths and sharpening. We're constantly researching new and better knifemaking methods and the latest advances in materials to ensure we deliver you the best custom knife available.
