Layaway Information

Layaway Policies

We offer a layaway plan on select products so you may pay for your order over a period of 60 days. Products that are eligible for layaway will show "Layaway Available: Yes" on the product page.

Here's how it works:

The total amount of the order excluding shipping, tax, or fees is divided into three (3) equal payments. The first payment is due with the order, the second payment is due 30 days later, and the final payment is due 60 days after the order.

There is a $15 non-refundable fee for layaway orders. This fee is added to the first payment along with the shipping and any tax. The first payment is made when the order is placed.

Example: Your order total is $300 plus $12.75 shipping and handling. If you select the layaway option, your payments would be:

  • $127.75 (1/3 of purchase = $100 + $15 layaway fee + $12.75 shipping)
  • $100.00 (1/3 of purchase = $100)
  • $100.00 (1/3 of purchase = $100)

If your initial payment is made by credit card, we will automatically process the 2nd and 3rd payments at the appropriate time using the same credit card information. You will be reminded via email that a payment will be charged. If you need to change this for any reason, please contact us.

For payments made other than credit card, payment must be received within seven (7) days of the due date or the order is subject to cancellation. You will receive a reminder via email that a payment is due.

If you wish to complete payment early and have your order shipped, you may contact us at any time during the 60 day period. There is no penalty for prepayment.

Additional products may be added to a layaway order without penalty. A new payment schedule will be calculated based on when additional products are added.

If you wish to complete payment early and have your order shipped, you may contact us at any time during the 60 day period. There is no penalty for early payment.

Cancellations of layaway orders are subject to a restocking/processing fee of 10% of the order total (not including tax and shipping costs). This restocking fee is in addition to the $15 non-refundable layaway fee.

Overview

From the TAD GEAR website: The Watson TD TAD Edition is part of maker Joe Watson’s remembrance series. Named after members of Watson’s former units who were killed in action during ground combat operations supporting the War on Terror, these knives are made to honor the fallen. To create the TD, no CNC, mills, waterjet, laser or automated tools were used. All work was done in-house by Joe Watson himself, giving these blades a feel of being constructed during a different time in history. The knife is large-wheel hollow ground with a tapered tang to reduce weight. The handles are Curly Maple from Joe Watson’s private collection. Acquired over the length of his career, wood from this collection has a truly extraordinary figure, color and other characteristics which make them a step above the norm. Oftentimes these woods are once in a lifetime finds. For the TD, the Curly Maple was double hand dyed, sanded and sealed with over a dozen layers of Tru-oil finish for protection and a great look. They are secured via epoxy and a perimeter of small brass pins. The exclusive TAD Edition of this knife is constructed of W2 carbon steel with a clay hardened wave hamon, which was then triple tempered before being hand burnished and etched. **Unsharpened swedge can be easily sharpened** Features Clay Tempered W2 with Hamon blade, with an acute Persian blade profile Deep thumb ramp with jimping for precise control of the blade Contoured handles for improved edge awareness Curly Maple Handle Tapered Tang. Excellent condition.

The overall mission is to offer a variety of high performance, handmade knives from kitchen to outdoors to self defense pieces. I do things the right way, one piece at a time. I am meticulous in my material selection, heat treating and effort in the details to offer people the best knives I can. As someone who enjoys the craft of knifemaking and has a lot of interests, I make knives for a wide variety of uses. Generally these are broken down into two simple categories: -Field Grade: Everyday working knives made to perform with good geometry, heat treat and materials suited more towards ease of maintenance and durability. CPM154 is the most common steel used as it is the best all-around steel for most situations. Sometimes, steels like CPM3V or PSF27 will be offered as well. A stonewash finish is the most common finish I offer on Field Grade pieces. -Signature Grade: My opportunity to explore and deliver a higher level of old world craftsmanship. The performance, high quality heat treat as the working knives, but with more premium features, more striking cosmetics and the use of more rare materials. Finishes can vary, from painstakingly hand rubbed and polished metal, high gloss satin finishes and pattern acid etched finishes. Blades may be stainless, or carbon steel with visible hardening lines-commonly referred to as a hamon. Thicker stock will often come with a tapered tang. You will also see hand sanded handles made from exotic woods, vintage phenolic materials, and other specifically selected accouterments.
