Overview
This rare Dagger by Chris Reeve Knives is crafted from a solid piece of A2 steel. There were only 25 pieces made in this 7" blade size. The double edged blade features a KG GunKote finished blade, .207" blade stock and 1.262" blade depth, integral construction. Comes with black leather sheath. The entire one-piece line has been discontinued, making these knives very difficult to acquire. Has some minor wear on the edges of the finish, otherwise excellent condition.
I inquired with Chris Reeve Knives about another one of these pieces. This is what they said: Yes, this is a pretty rare piece. Simply named the 9" Dagger, it is one of 25 and part of a set of 25 seven inch daggers and 25 nine inch daggers made in South Africa. When we got to the USA, we introduced the 5.5" series of One Piece Knives and made 25 in that size too. All the knives would be from A2. My go-to thought is that the SA made knives were all made for Catoctin Cutlery in Maryland, who were buying quite a lot from us at the time. But something in the back of my head niggles that we might have made the 4" Daggers for Blackjack in 1987. It is the cursive engraving of Made in South Africa that raises this question. Unfortunately, I have no records. I am pretty certain the 7 and 9 inch knives were made for Catoctin in 1988.
