OBJ is a military acronym meaning “Objective”. It is pronounced O-B-J. This framelock model, the “OBJ-1”, represents a long term objective of mine. For twelve years, I have made ever more elaborate and therefore increasingly expensive handmade knives. Though I find great satisfaction producing custom knives, I don’t love the wait lists and long lead times to put a knife in a customer’s hands. It has long been a goal of mine to produce a line of “Mid-Tech” knives that allow me to get more knives to more customers at a less exclusive price point. The OBJ-1 is the first model from Rangermade Knife & Tool to fill that niche.

There are certainly varying degrees of “Mid-Tech” in the knife world and I feel that these strike a fine balance between CNC machined components and the hand work that gives a knife a personality. Every component of the OBJ-1 was designed and produced in-house at my new shop in Westcliffe, Colorado. All blades are hand ground, all components are hand matched and deburred and all finishes are hand applied. The locks and detents are hand fit as well

Comes with original box and COA #020. Excellent condition.

Ranger Made Knives (Bob Ohlemann)

"I strive to create useful, high quality pieces using unique and interesting materials. The thing about knifemaking that really appeals to me is that one can always add new skills and continue to evolve their art. For me, the handmade aspect of my knives is a critical piece; I will not use CNC technology to directly make or embellish any components of my knives. That said, I embrace technology and employ it in making tooling, fixtures, and other appliances that aid me in producing my knives."
