Description: Mastersmith Daniel Winkler created the Winkler II line in 2010. It is an alternate approach to an established tradition. Winkler Knives II is the result of processes Daniel Winkler developed over the past few years in order to provide axes and knives to teams within United States Army Special Operations and US Naval Special Warfare. Each piece in this collection bears the Winkler Knives II touchmark.
Winkler/Sayoc RnD Sub-Compact Hawk is an adaptation of the field-proven collaboration between edged weapons expert Rafael Kayanan and Daniel Winkler. The Sub-Compact is a smaller version of Close Quarters Winkler/Sayoc R&D Hawk and is made with edge awareness, economy of motion and mobility in mind. The primary difference is the overall length of 9 inches, making these axes perfect for tight spaces. The head measures approximately 4-1/2 inches in length, with a cutting edge is approximately 2 inches. Designed so that the heaviest area rests at the head, the hawk's full tang is skeletonized and tapered reducing overall weight. The head is coated with durable KG coating, providing both rust resistance and a non-reflective surface.
An upward curved end provides a sure grip. The haft is formed from durable Micarta. The versatile felt lined sheath is formed from Kydex with a rubber belt hanger.
Comes with the original sheath. Has a few sheath marks, excellent condition overall.
