About the Maker

Dorneles, Luciano

Luciano made his first knife in 1987 and began making knives professionally in 1997. Making knives initially for his own use while in the woods hunting and fishing, he gained experience in determining and understanding what a "tool knife" is, should be, and how it must perform. Luciano made a point of studying metallurgy and the craft of custom knifemaking, applying his skill and knowledge plus his outdoorsman experience to the making of custom camp, hunting and skinning knives. In 2001 he founded the Brazilian Bladesmith Society becoming later its technical director. He has submitted to the cutting and folding test of the American Bladesmith Society obtaining the degree of Journeyman Smith. As a skilled smith he has a good taste for strong and rustic blades with excellent craftsmanship and finishing quality.
