Overview

This gorgeous piece from J.P. Miller features a random pattern welded damascus blade (composed of 1095, 01, and 15N20 steels). A very slight tapered tang gives this piece a nice balanced feel. Handle scales are crafted from elk horn. The unique sheath is hand-stitched 9 oz. cowhide covered with buckskin. This piece was donated to the recent Knife Rights Ultimate Steel fundraiser. The gentleman that won the piece asked that it be sold and all proceeds given to Knife Rights. 100% of the selling price of this knife will be sent to Knife Rights to support the important work they do. Knife has seen no use/carry. The guard is Mr. Miller's wrought iron damascus and does show some very minor surface spotting.

About the Maker

Miller, James P.

J.P. Miller has been making knives in 1965 and Damascus since 1977. J.P. joined the Knifemakers Guild in 1982. He makes carbon steel knives using 1095 carbon steel. The carbon steel knives are made by using the stock removal method. The Damascus knives are all hand forged one at a time. I use two different combinations of carbon steel, 1095 + 01 and 1095 + 15N20. Damascus knives will have from 200 to 500 layers of steel. Only natural materials are used to create the handles.
