Overview

This knife comes from a private collection and the information is limited. The blade is marked R. Genovese Colo. Springs 50 within a circle. O-1 is stamped on the pile side tang, leading us to believe the steel is O-1. The blade itself has some minor pitting and the spine has some marring. The micarta scales fully enclose the the tang and are contoured for a firm grip. It is a lightweight, hardy knife. Blade Steel: O-1 Steel

About the Maker

Genovese, Rick

"It started with a piece of steel and some micarta in the back of my father's shop in 1975. I suppose I would be horrified by that first knife now. It was a rough piece of work with more things wrong than right, but that first ungainly knife did ignite something in me, and that something still burns over 45 years later. Like everything, my interests have evolved over time. The early 90's were a turning point in my knife making, with my focus turning toward folding knives and the interframe type of knife. Adding stone inlays to my knives required that I add a new set of skills to my knife making, and rekindled my passion as well. Time marches on, and two decades later I find myself once again evolving, reworking my designs to include the larger pocket knives that my customer's are now asking for. Whether fixed blade or folding, making knives is what I do."
