Layaway Information

Layaway Policies

We offer a layaway plan on select products so you may pay for your order over a period of 60 days. Products that are eligible for layaway will show "Layaway Available: Yes" on the product page.

Here's how it works:

The total amount of the order excluding shipping, tax, or fees is divided into three (3) equal payments. The first payment is due with the order, the second payment is due 30 days later, and the final payment is due 60 days after the order.

There is a $15 non-refundable fee for layaway orders. This fee is added to the first payment along with the shipping and any tax. The first payment is made when the order is placed.

Example: Your order total is $300 plus $12.75 shipping and handling. If you select the layaway option, your payments would be:

 • $127.75 (1/3 of purchase = $100 + $15 layaway fee + $12.75 shipping)
 • $100.00 (1/3 of purchase = $100)
 • $100.00 (1/3 of purchase = $100)

If your initial payment is made by credit card, we will automatically process the 2nd and 3rd payments at the appropriate time using the same credit card information. You will be reminded via email that a payment will be charged. If you need to change this for any reason, please contact us.

For payments made other than credit card, payment must be received within seven (7) days of the due date or the order is subject to cancellation. You will receive a reminder via email that a payment is due.

If you wish to complete payment early and have your order shipped, you may contact us at any time during the 60 day period. There is no penalty for prepayment.

Additional products may be added to a layaway order without penalty. A new payment schedule will be calculated based on when additional products are added.

If you wish to complete payment early and have your order shipped, you may contact us at any time during the 60 day period. There is no penalty for early payment.

Cancellations of layaway orders are subject to a restocking/processing fee of 10% of the order total (not including tax and shipping costs). This restocking fee is in addition to the $15 non-refundable layaway fee.

Overview

This Drop Point by Olamic Cutlery features a Damascus laminate on W1 blade, 1/8" blade stock, 1 1/8" blade depth. Hidden tang construction with engraved nickel silver bolster, nickel silver spacers, and Cocobolo handle. Great work. Nice feel in hand. Includes certificate of authenticity and lifetime warranty. Brand new from maker.

From the Maker: "Damascus steel and its characteristics have been a mystery in modern metallurgy, until John D. Verhoeven, Emeritus Professor in Materials Science and Engineering conducted a study along with master bladesmith Alfred H. Pendray. They set out to find out exactly what made Damascus steel so legendary. The secret turned out to be the combination of banded iron carbide particles and softer steel. Such molecular composition gave Damascus steel a hard cutting edge along with a rugged flexibility. But what specifically made it so? Research showed that the steel mix is crucial and must contain one of two (or both) secret ingredients: Vanadium and Molybdenum. Small traces of these elements added to high-carbon steel produced impeccable carbide bonds and thus unlocked the reason why Damascus is king of steel.

For our Olamic Cutlery Damascus we use four types of Russian steel, to create a balanced mix of high-carbon and nickel steels. The goal is edge-retention and real-world hunting performance. We were able to achieve this using lessons learned from history, and those uncovered by Mr. Verhoeven. The chemical composition of our Damascus features both Vanadium and Molybdenum, making for a superior and historically-accurate steel. After acid etching, a beautiful damascene pattern is uncovered, adding that final touch to every Olamic Cutlery hunting knife. Damascus steel is an ancient art and we aim to keep it alive for generations forth. The word Olamic literally means lasting through eternity and that is exactly what we’ve set out to do." About the Maker

Olamic Cutlery
Olamic Cutlery

"We are a family-owned and operated knife company that started in 2010 in California. Olamic began with fixed blades and expanded into folders in 2013. To do so we brought along ABS MasterSmith Michael Vagnino and built up a small facility in Visalia, CA where he lives. Our goal at the time was to combine old world handwork we learned from our fixed blades and modern materials to make custom folders. The Wayfarer Classic was our first such folder, followed by Wayfarer Compact, Rainmaker, and Gambit. These models are handmade, built without the use of CNC. Making knives one at a time is the only way to maintain our “never the same" mantra. There are over ten million possible builds on our custom knives and each one made is unique. In 2016 we wanted to offer a robust EDC knife and designed the Wayfarer 247. We quickly realized that to make this knife competitive we need to have some parts pre-machined. Our Visalia shop doesn’t have this capacity and after an extensive search we found such precision in Italy. Everything beyond this initial step is done in California by the same hands that build our customs. Our fixed blades are made in Russia in small batches, all completely by hand. We forge our own Damascus from a proprietary mix of both high carbon and Vanadium-based steels. The steel is called H.C.V.D. and can be found in many patterns on our hunting knives and daggers. In March of 2017 we began using our Russian-made Damascus on our folders and finally crossed our past and our future."
