Overview

"When making this i wanted it to look kind of a mix between old and modern. I intentionally left forging marks in the spine of the blade and elsewhere, as well as a surface gap along the pomel where the cable welded inside but had not been finished completely flat. I also chose a section of the mokume gane with some imperfections. I did so as it looked rustic and fitting with the project."-Dan McBride.

This knife features a differentially heat treated damascus blade that was forged from a high carbon skidder cable. 3/16" blade thickness and 1 1/8" blade depth, full tang construction. Has a Mokume Gane guard that was made from nickel and copper. The handle has imitation tortoise shell scales and mosaic pins. Comes with a black concealex sheath. Brand new from Maker. Blade Steel: Differentially Heat Treated Damascus I Forged from 3/4 High Carbon Skidder Cable"

About the Maker

McBride, Dan

Dan McBride passed away suddenly on August 18, 2012.

""My name is Dan McBride. I'm a knife maker, artist, avid outdoorsman and martial arts practitioner living in Denver, Colorado.I always had an interest in knives and making them. As a kid, I took great interest in custom knives and used to try to make them. Needless to say, I ruined a lot of my dad's files and grinding wheels. However, I enjoyed trying. In 1997, after graduating high school, I left for the military. This brought greater interest in sciences, making knives, and customizing firearms. Over the past few years I've taken back up knife making. I use carbon steels mostly, with G10 material and/or paracord for handles.I make neck knives, tactical knives, hunting/outdoor knives, key chain knives, impact tools out of G10 material, and balisongs once in a while. As for now, my knives are one of a kind. I make them by hand, start to finish, with limited power tools. My focus is on making a quality tool and learning more as i go.""
