About the Maker

Bromley, Peter

ABS Journeyman Smith Peter Bromley has been making knives part-time for over twenty-five years. Peter prides himself on sole authorship and forges, heat treats and does all the leather work using many machines he has built himself. Working exclusively with carbon steels and his own forged Damascus, he crafts lock backs, liner locks, and friction folders as well boot, neck and a series of hunting knives. Peter is additionally recognized for his historical Bowies: ?I?m known as ?Bowie Maker? among the Single Action Shooters Society (SASS) and have attended the ?End of Trail? show in Albuquerque, NM each of the last dozen or so years.? He also attends BLADE West, the Northwest Knife Collectors Show in Tacoma, WA, and the Montana Knifemakers Association show, where he won ?Best Bowie? in 2008. Peter resides in Spokane, WA with his wife of forty-five years, Phyllis. He draws his greatest satisfaction as a maker from the fact that, regardless of style or embellishments, each knife is a useable tool that is made to cut.
