Brand new from the minds of Michael Zieba and Jason Knight is a masterwork of tactical bladeware-the Southern Star.  This full-size tactical folder draws from the best efforts of two of the best knifemakers-Jason Knight-the world-renowned master of the Bowie knife and Michael Zieba, a pioneer in high quality, American made tactical knives.

The Southern Star is a full-size folder with a fully 3D contoured Titanium handle and backspacer reminiscent of that of a solidly built fixed blade knife.  The sweeping Bohler, 4” M390 powdered stainless steel recurve blade is designed for heavy cutting and the signature Knight-designed fuller groove gives it a racy, practical look and lightens the blade for lightning fast flipping.

The internally lightened 5.25” Titanium handles are the core feature of this knife.  The 3D machining is so comfortable it will allow you to cut for long periods without any hot spots or fatigue.  The frame lock is rugged enough for fixed blade knife chores and has a maker-replaceable lock face for a perfect lock up.  At over 6 ounces the “Southern Star” is a handful and the kind of knife you can stake your life on.

About the Maker

Zieba, Michael
Zieba, Michael

Michael Zieba first moved to the United States from Poland in 2005. His love for craftsmanship and industrial work began with helping his father with his furniture factory when he was only eleven years old. Michael taught himself industrial design and mechanics, as he worked various jobs in construction during his first five years in the United States. Now, a proud Brooklyn local, Michael is the owner of Zieba New York and is the first and only knifemaker in Brooklyn that is part of the Brooklyn Made Chamber of Commerce.

Knight, Jason
Knight, Jason

Jason’s early knives were created through the stock removal process. In 2001 he attended the Bill Moran School of Bladesmithing in Old Washington, Arkansas. Jason won Best New Maker at Blade Show West that same year. His work quickly became sought after because of his recognizable style. According to Jason, some of the most valuable input he ever received was from his friends George Herron and Daniel Winkler, both of whom encouraged him to always remain true to his own creative niche. In 2007 he received his ABS Mastersmith rating and was awarded the B.R. Hughes Award for the best knife by a Mastersmith candidate. He continues to receive awards for his extraordinary skill. Knight is well known among custom makers and collectors not only as an innovator, but also for his mastery of metallurgy and blade geometry.
