Abud, Santiago
Santiago Abud began his journey as a knife maker at age 19 when, thanks to a friend in the United States, he was able to obtain a video by renowned master knife maker Bill Moran. In it, he discovered the teachings that would mark the beginning of his passion for crafting artisan knives. Over the years, he also trained as a jeweler, which allowed him to apply his knowledge of metalworking and design techniques to the creation of highly precise and beautiful knives. For years, he worked part-time as a knife maker, honing his skills and developing his own style. However, the arrival of the pandemic gave him the opportunity to fully dedicate himself to his art. With vast experience and a renewed focus, he set up his workshop in the town of Sierra de los Padres, Buenos Aires Province, Argentina in 2020, where he specialized in creating artistic knives using Damascus steel, a technique that allows him to merge functionality and aesthetics into unique pieces. Today, he is recognized for the quality, originality, and impeccable workmanship of his knives, which reflect the passion and dedication with which he continues to forge his path as a professional knife maker. This summary highlights his evolution from his beginnings to becoming an artistic knife specialist, highlighting his self-taught approach and the influence of his training as a jeweler. A member of the American Bladesmith Society since 2006, he is preparing to earn his Journeyman Smith certification in June 2026.
