The Peter Daniel Lüneschloss Waffen-Fabrik company was founded in 1810. It originally began as a cutlery manufacturer but started the production of edged weapons in 1848. During the American Civil War of 1861-65, Lüneschloss supplied edged weapons to both Federal and Confederate forces. The company began producing bayonets in 1860. The Roman helmet and sword trademark was registered by Carl Lüneschloss on September 15, 1864. An 1873 advertisement accounts for the sale and delivery of sabers and revolvers. The company exported many pieces throughout the world. They marketed their own etched and engraved: weapons, cutlery and tableware. Lüneschloss registered in Solingen on May 10, 1881. The company continued to manufacture edged weapons after the end of the first world war, and advertised in 1922: "all types of edged weapons, fencing articles, sidearms, daggers and knives, for both home and abroad." Around the Weimar Republic era, the company incorporated a foundry, and grinding/polishing were also undertaken on site. During the Third Reich era, Lüneschloss produced: Wehrmacht, NSDAP and Red Cross daggers, as well as many swords and bayonets. The company was located on Schwertstraße 6 in Solingen from 1920-39. The firm dissolved on February 12, 1965 in Solingen and formed again in Remscheid on Hohenhagenerstraße 4.
